Bibliographic records of the individual described documents have been processed on the basis of the above-mentioned bibliography Arabische, türkische und persische Handschriften der Universitätsbibliothek in Bratislava from 1961. The authors of the digitalized description have found methodological support in an essentially unsurpassed way of bibliographic notation in the field of oriental manuscripts and faithfully transformed the aforementioned description of individual works into the MASTERS method of historical documents processing which is recommended by UNESCO.

Since the authors of the electronic version did not work directly with the primary documents, divergencies from and links to the printed catalogue have been edited, and therefore it is necessary to mention certain facts that could - at the absence of information - form a distorted view of the work:

1

The CD-ROM comprises only those oriental manuscripts that form the collection of Safvet Beg Bašagić in the University Library in Bratislava.

2

The given signatures are correct in relation to the signatures of the printed catalogue.

3

Some records of the printed catalogue contain errors in the given document collations; labels of the scanned pages in the digital version have been corrected to correspond with reality.

4

The electronic description does not contain notes on the binding of individual documents. The whole collection was restored in the mid-sixties of 20th century and due to an unfortunate decision to provide most documents with "new" bindings the original descriptions do not correspond with the contemporary state which may fail to attract any professional interest.
